Our Story
Welcome to our Ndebele Language Learning Platform! Our mission is to make learning Ndebele accessible, enjoyable, and effective for everyone.
Background
Learn Zim Ndebele was born after the founder, Bongiwe Mntambo realised that a good number of people were interested in learning isiNdebele but couldn’t access enough resources (including human resources) to help them learn. She then began to provide these for free on Instagram and YouTube.
But students who are hungry to learn didn’t get enough from these platforms. So they approached her asking for more learning opportunities. And this prompted Bongiwe to begin giving Ndebele lessons to students in the form of courses, Whatsapp lessons, and a open communication channel that allows students to ask questions whenever they arise.
Four years later, Learn Zim Ndebele is still growing. We’ve recently established a children’s course and are looking forward to creating more resources to truly help interested people to keep learning IsiNdebele.

On 1 September 2023 I started my 15 accelerated Ndebele lessons with Bongiwe Mntambo. It’s been an amazing, fun, interactive study which I am proud to share with potential students. One intriguing aspect is her teaching talent, passion,clarity of explanations and use of media in her execution of online lessons.
